The Baby Boomer generation is large and aging. As earlier generations confronted the challenges of aging, the conventional wisdom was that older people would continue to live in their homes and to be cared for by their children until illness set in and they needed to go to a nursing home. Since families then were relatively large and stable, this model worked reasonably well. Old age was considered to begin around age 70. Then along came the Baby Boomers, and my, how things have changed. Today, 85 is the new 70, and familial caregivers are few and far between. We need a different model.

Sorting out elder care options for the Boomers is a difficult, complex, and potentially expensive challenge. This book will follow a mid-70's couple, Jim and Jan Smith, who have decided to consider moving into a retirement community that can provide for their future elder care. The book takes an unbiased approach, comparing different models, as the Smiths try to choose an option that best suits their needs.

Sorting Out Retirement Community Options will provide a comprehensive background for anyone wishing to learn more about analyzing this industry. Only one thing is certain:If you've seen one Retirement Community, well, you've seen one Retirement Community. The decision is complicated, but this book will help you make an informed decision for yourself or your family before the Silver Tsunami of Elder Care comes ashore.
