From Executive to Community Builder

Published : July 25, 2026

For twenty years, my title said “executive.” Meetings, targets, quarterly reviews — a career I was proud of, built on being the person who made decisions for other people.

Then I stepped back, and the thing I missed most wasn't the title. It was the sense of building something alongside people, not just for a bottom line. So I turned that same energy toward something smaller and, somehow, bigger: bringing people together.

These days I spend my time connecting neighbors, organizing gatherings, and helping strangers become collaborators. Turns out the skills that made me a decent executive — listening, organizing, showing up — are exactly what it takes to build a community.
