Sugar Spikes: The 'After-Pill' and other Hacks

According to Dr. Peter Attia and other longevity experts, blood sugar spikes are not just a temporary energy rollercoaster—they are a dangerous gateway to metabolic dysfunction, insulin resistance, and ultimately, chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cognitive decline. Keeping glucose stable is one of the most powerful longevity strategies.

But what if temptation just won? Here are some immediate damage control biohacks.

Quick Fixes After a Sugar Overload

  1. Hydrate fast – Drink at least 1 liter of water to help your kidneys flush out excess glucose.
  2. Move your body – A brisk walk, workout, or bodyweight exercises (like squats) can quickly bring glucose down.
  3. Cinnamon or Apple Cider Vinegar – Helps improve insulin sensitivity and stabilize sugar levels.
  4. Berberine or Metformin – These mimic the effects of insulin and help shuttle glucose into cells faster (best taken regularly if prone to spikes).
  5. Fiber or protein – Eating fiber-rich foods or a protein snack can help blunt the spike and prevent crashes.
  6. L-Glutamine against cravings – This amino acid curbs sugar cravings and stabilizes blood sugar (taken as needed.).
