New Ground is a purpose-built cohousing community created and run by Older Women’s Co-Housing (OWCH). Located in High Barnet (Chipping Barnet), the development comprises a close-knit, resident-led group of women aged 50 and over who share communal life while retaining private, self-contained flats. The scheme features a common room used for weekly communal meals, events and activities, a guest room, laundry facilities and an attractive shared garden and allotment that encourage outdoor activity, gardening and neighbourly socialising.
The community is managed cooperatively by its members and combines mixed tenure (owner-occupied 250-year leases alongside social rental units) with an emphasis on mutual support, active ageing and independent living. New Ground is designed to promote social engagement, reduce isolation and support healthy, active later years — please note there are currently no vacancies at New Ground.
