INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE OLDER AGELESS PERSONS

Published :August 23, 2024

As the "International Day of Older Persons" approaches, we plan to join the UN in celebrating the valuable contributions of older adults worldwide. Of course, at Ageless-Societies.com, we think of this day as the "International Day of Ageless Persons."

By 2050, the global population of those aged 60 and above is expected to reach 2.1 billion (22% of the world's population), with the number of individuals aged 80 and over projected to grow from 143 million in 2019 to 426 million (from 1.9% to 4.3% of the world's population). These statistics highlight the critical importance of the UN's initiatives to protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of older persons, ensuring they continue to play an active role in society.

The UN's 2024 theme centers on addressing ageism, reducing inequalities, and promoting the inclusion of older persons in all areas of life—from healthcare to digital literacy. These efforts are crucial for fostering a world where every generation thrives.
