What does it mean to be "ageless"?

At Ageless-Societies.com, we obviously thought about the word “ageless.” After considering various alternatives and attempting to avoid focusing on age at all, we ultimately chose this term because it actively aims to negate the traditional concept of age. What does "ageless" mean to us? Here are some of our thoughts:

Ageless means...

1. Not defining ourselves by the number of years we have lived and the conventional phases of life associated with them. Anybody can be ageless.
2. Treasuring and nurturing the resources we have especially our bodies, our health and our minds - and yes, the planet.
3. Looking forward to the future and contributing to it in whatever way we are capable. Being engaged and part of the society as we chose to.
4. Increasingly living on our own terms – or at least having a clear and mature understanding of what we want, what we stand for, and how we evolve as individuals.
5. Having people we like in our lives. We believe it is a luxury and an increasing necessity to choose the people we deal with, eliminating toxic relationships in both private and business contexts.
6. Staying curious, being informed and part of the zeitgeist. This might mean forcing ourselves to engage with latest technologies, being aware of the broader developments in the world, or just listening to today’s music and keeping up with fashion.
7. Not indulging in the past. Making an effort to stay relevant to the person across the table or society as a whole. Avoiding boring old stories, instead seeing the other in their world and offering, if welcome, a contribution. Especially to the younger ones who want to learn from us.
8. Enjoying the clarity that comes with age. We had the time to overcome potential envy, grudges, and pettiness which the competitive world of youth we might have thought demanded at the time.
9. Asking the big questions that have always been lurking in our minds: Where do we come from? Where are we going? What have we done with our time on earth? These questions, whether dominant or less so, are taken seriously.
10. Using creativity, companionship, humor, and generosity to overcome hardships, helping each other to be the brave heroes of our lives.
